I'VE GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL BUT I'M NOT IN COLLEGE, IS THAT A PROBLEM?
If you are 18 to 23 years old and have communicated with the staff about your previous color guard experience, then you are eligable to join Acuity!
Are there any special qualities you are looking for?
We at Acuity love dedication, hard work, determination, and the ability to have fun. We prefer for our students to first become good people and good performers before they become a championship team. Attitude and work ethic will always be more important than any medal or trophy we could win, no matter how badly we want to and how hard we work to win.
Do you have to go to acu to be in acuity?
Absolutely not. While we are forever grateful and thankful for the support of the Big Purple Band, the use of ACU facilities, and the support of the ACU Color Guard Staff, however, enrollment in ACU is not a requirement for an audition.
How do Cast contracts work?
Everyone who auditions will receive an email describing the type of cast contract extended to you, should you receive one. Contracts can range full cast member eligible for additional weapon lines, to a partial contract extending the opportunity for flag and character work, to other contracts as deemed necessary and appropriate by the staff based on your demonstrated skill level.
I'm worried about paying my dues, what do i do?
Talk to the staff about our annual fundraisers and payment plan options! We are more than happy to make accommodations for you should you be serious about performing with Acuity.
What if i live out of town but want to join?
Believe it or not that is a very common occurrence for Acuity. We have several students who live or go to school in San Angelo and make the drive to each and every rehearsal and competition to be with us. If you are serious, and will make the drive, we would love to have you! Mileage won't stop you from being eligible.
I'm a majorette/twirler. can I join?
Acuity is open to having twirlers in our ensemble. As we are a winter guard and do not get scored for baton in an equipment category but instead in general effect, we ask that you too remain open to new ideas and avenues of performance. We'd love a baton soloist, duet, or feature! We do ask that you keep an open heart and an open mind to also being on our dance line, doing character work, or possibly spinning other equipment as well, depending on the show and staff preference.
